You Can’t Stop LIFE
In the window sill of the cell house here in the CMU (communications management unit aka ‘the terrorist unit’) in USP Marion lives a mother Mourning Dove and her two new born chicks, and she’s not the only one. I have counted four bird nests throughout the cell houses window sills with other watchful mothers and their young. It brightens my heart to know that while we 40 odd political prisoners and prisoners of war, from Palestinian brothers to ALF/ELF activists are dealing with our federal oppression 24 hours a day and 7 days a week that we are still in the minority even within this cell house. most life at CMU Marion is absolutely free. From the Mourning Doves, Sparrows, Swifts and Swallows. To the Regal, Imperial, Luna and Polyphemus Moths. Not to mention the June bugs, Stag Beetles, Red Wasps, Mud Dobbers and Praying Mantis. And no small Circle of Life would be complete without the predators which in this encampment is more than one Feral Cat.
It’s a symptom of cotemporary society to only see the world in human terms, this becomes magnified ten fold as a prisoner because your world shrinks down to the level of a concrete box, razor wire, walls, fences and bars. It can become nearly impossible at times to see beyond your own plight, your own fight and your own incarceration. But fortunately the Earth is abundant with Life and continues on with or without, you or I. You can’t stop life! The industrial prison complex can stop, a life, or even thousands of lives but they can’t stop Life. And long after these concrete dungeons that they have erected out of malice, racist and and classist design, erode and crumble, it will be the Earth herself that quakes and swallows them whole, rises up in tsunami waves and washes it all away, descends the hills with wild fires and burns it all to ash, comes with tornadoes and rips it all apart, comes forth with gale force winds to blow it all down, or maybe just slowly takes note as the liquid rubble that has been poured to form, erodes, cracks and crumbles back into the pebbles from whence it came.
This is the balance of life, and you cant stop it. For every wicked and evil act of Earths downpression, for every global international gluttonous corporation, there will be a day of reckoning. I have faith in the balance of life, I have faith in cause and effect. All life is one, God is one. The different manifestations we see, individual people, separate species, the microscopic all the way up to the macrocosmic All emanates from the whole, the togetherness of ‘The One’.
Our ultimate decision is where are we going to place our allegiance? With the artifice of human construct or the reality of the biosphere. Will we be agents of concrete, plastic, perversion and death? or warriors for the Animals, Air, Trees, and all Life. I’m not talking about our outward portralys of solidarity with the oppressed and downtrodden But our internal, intuitive and intrinsic love that guides our actions in defense of Liberation. Do you have that? I hope you do. When you see videos/images of vivisection, police brutality, or or environmental destruction do you feel that a piece of yourself is being assaulted? Does it make you sick? Does it create the desire to fight? I hope it does. Because if it does we can start to understand each other. And I want to understand you, I want you to understand me. Connections are a beautiful thing especially connections of mutual feelings.
So often we expel the thought criminals from our lives. We cut them out and off because of differences of opinion over the abstract or tactical questions that are near and dear to us. I was thinking today about how many times I have done that to others because of my own stubborn beliefs. How many times have I shrunk my world down because someone didn’t make the cut in my ideological worldview. What a waste, shame on me. You realize that folly when your in the concrete box staring at moths and baby birds. You realize the error of your ‘my way or the highway’ attitude when you just want companionship for the sake of companionship. Not to say that we can all just get along, for that is not the reality of life on Earth. But perhaps we should have more respect for our connections because without them we harm and exploit, we lose direction, we succumb to the autonomous mentality that leads to insanity, elitism and every for of social inequality. We forget that there is “The One”, and were not it.
The world is changing whether we talk about the climate, politics, spirituality or economic collapse. The world is changing. There is a certain quota of pain and suffering that this earth will allow, just like any other organism after which time drastic action and upheaval are immanent. But in the end whatever restores balance is worth the difficulty and upheaval, weather in the long-term ecological health of Allah’s divine creation, or in the life of an incarcerated ALF activist. To those I have ever unjustly harmed, I apologize. To all those that destroy the Earth and Animal Nations may you burn in Hell. And to all the ones I failed to save I promise I will try harder next time. Take care and Ill do the same. Animal Liberation, Whatever It May Take!
Much Love,
Abdul Haqq
